Lavecon 2020

Sponsored by Spidermind Games

Lavecon 2020 is 3rd - 5th July.

Sedgebrook Hall Hotel, Northants, UK

Lavecon is the premiere Elite Dangerous Convention!

I know many of you are waiting to hear about the next batch of Gold and Platinum tickets for Lavecon 2020, but you will also be aware that the face to face events situation has got a lot more complicated.

As it stands, we are continuing to plan as if the event will go ahead on the 3rd to 5th July, but we are in dialogue with the hotel staff and Frontier Developments discussing options if this becomes unviable.

Our first concern is the health of our attendees, volunteers and the organising team.
We do have a secondary concern: the financial implications for HWS if the event were not to go ahead.

It's really difficult to predict where we are going to be by July. We are keen to go ahead, but also to be sensible about health considerations. We recognise with how quickly tickets have sold in the past, people want to know that they have a Gold or Platinum ticket, but we don't want to take money when things are so uncertain.

We have therefore decided to put out "Reserve Tickets". The reserve tickets will be available from the website and are free when you enter the code "Reserve" but are not actually a ticket for the event.

By purchasing a reserve ticket you are letting us know you would like to attend the event in July and we are letting you know that a ticket is available should it be safe and sensible to run as planned. If the event is going ahead we will need you to pay for it closer to the time.
If we postpone to another date, reserve ticket holders will have a priority opportunity to purchase a ticket.

The Reserve Tickets will go live at 7pm on Friday 27th March.

If you have already booked and paid for a ticket you will be offered a refund should we need to cancel or postpone.

We will save a few tickets just in case, so if reserve tickets sell out please do email us to join the waiting list.

For technical reasons the poloshirts have been moved to merchandise. If the event does not go ahead or is moved to a date you cant make we can post these to a UK address for free, we will contact you if you live outside the UK and this becomes necessary.

Friday and Sunday night options (Hotel and camping) are not currently on here, but will be available closer to the date.

We will update you as the situation changes,

Karen and the Team

For Terms and Conditions as well as practical information, please see our General Information page. Tickets when they are available will appear lower down on this page.

Of course it is not just computer gaming; during the convention,  you can join us to play board games or LAN games like our Artemis Simulator or try out some VR. You can participate in some tabletop roleplay with the Elite Dangerous Roleplaying game, or attend workshops on all sorts of topics like Writing Science Fiction, Making Podcasts and Writing Computer Games. You could choose to relax in the Swimming Pool or spa. You can take part in tournaments, play computer games, listen to talks and panels, and play more Elite Dangerous!

Some History

Since 2013, the fan community has gathered together to celebrate the return of Elite in it's current incarnation as the multiplayer game Elite Dangerous. Lave was the system from which players of the 1984 game, Elite started their adventures. It has subsequently spawned the community podcast, Lave Radio and the official Elite Dangerous fiction novel, Lave Revolution.

Since the 2012-2013 Kickstarter for Elite Dangerous, the fans and backers of the game have been meeting up and sharing their experiences of the current game and its previous iterations. Elite (1984), Frontier: Elite 2 (1993) and Frontier: First Encounters (1995). The community is an incredibly supportive and innovative group, supporting a great deal of diverse projects and charities through events at Lavecon and beyond.

Logistics Volunteers (eg running Artemis or on the Welcome desk) do not need to book at this time, but please do let us know that you would like to volunteer.
If you are involved with content (and not a logistics volunteer), please do book via the website, but if you are unable to get a ticket for some reason then do please contact us and we will see if we can help.
Bronze/Silver tickets are unlikely to sell out, so please don't buy a back up ticket if you are hoping to get a Gold/Platinum ticket.
Rooms in the Hotel for the Saturday night can only be booked with a Lavecon ticket they are not available directly from the hotel or via other booking sites.
Terms and conditions can be found here.
If you have an access reason for needing a room in the hotel and are not able to book one via the website, please do contact us and we will see if we are able to help.

We do not send out physical tickets (I know the standard wording at purchase suggests we do) name badges will be available to collect on the day. If there are any issues please use the automated email you will receive as proof of purchase.

If you would like updates about Lavecon or any other HWS projects then please sign up to the HWS mailing list
